A prolific artist, poet and songwriter, Billy Childish's creative output has spanned over three decades and has been outstanding. Current nostalgia for The Clash and The Pistols etc should be ignored - this man hasn't veered from punk's original artistic principles (DIY, don't sell out) for over 30 years.
Thursday night saw him play live at the Komedia, Brighton under the guise of Wild Billy Childish and the Musicians of the British Empire. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a tight set delivered by Billy, Nurse Julie and Wolf Howard - a unique blend of poetry and art rock.
I haven't had so much fun since 1977.
